2. what is economics as a career

Links and descriptions that are useful
http://www.aeaweb.org/students/WhatIsEconomics.php
This link is very useful because it tells me what economics is and I didn't know anything about it. It is the study of how people choose to use their resources and it also gives you definitions from textbooks and history. the page is from the american economic association which i think is very trust able.

http://economics.about.com/cs/studentresources/a/why_economics.htm
this was a very useful like because the not only told me why to study economics, but they also gave me reasons why it was good and how it could be fun. it also says that there are terrific job oportunities when you are a graduate from economics. it can also be useful as a personal level, and how economics provides an understanding of how the world works.

http://mises.org/daily/987
this is a very extensive and long article, but it was helpful reading it because people dont really know what economics is and the pick it as a career because it gives you money. here they tell you that if you dont really like economics, or the branches it has, you will be miserable in the career and hate what you do. It also tells you not only the description but why should we study it and how its really important to the human society.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010/jun/26/graduates-work-and-careers
i think this is the most useful link ive visited today because when you choose a career, you need to know that it was helpful and what you can do with the degree. in this website the tell you what you can do and why is it so good. it tells you what skills you have gained, and what jobs you can do and apply to. it also talks about post graduate study which is what comes after you get your economics degree.

What did i learn and what are my new skills
I learned what the career of economics is and really got in depth with it. I also learned that its something you really need to like in order to do it. There are a lot of job opportunities that will make you a lot of money if you choose to study this, and you do it well. Economics is not just a career, i learned that it affects the world in many ways and it can be useful in a personal level in many ways. Its a huge career with many branches and it needs a lot of work in it and knowledge. There are also a lot of thinks that come after you have your degree in economics. There are a lot of post graduate options like master degrees and doctor degrees. Also, almost all universities provide this career so there is a lot of possibilities that you can choose from.

3. Explore different careers

Links and description that are useful
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_of_Business_Administration
Wikipedia is not the best source of information because of what is says not always being true, but what i read was very important. It says that the PhD in business administration is more towards applied research than theoretical research. Depending on where you go and where you study, the plan and the course or program is different.

http://businessmajors.about.com/od/choosingaschool/a/PhDbusinessadmin.htm
This link was very useful. It tells me that the program takes about four to six years of work but may require less or more depending on the program. It also talks about how choosing a PhD program can be difficult and that you need to find one that fits your needs and schedule.

 http://mba.nmmu.ac.za/programmes-and-learning/graduate-programmes/doctorate-business-administration-dba
this link was really helpful because it has other links that described the doctorate of business administration (DBA), the entrance requirements, how long it lasts, criteria for awarding the degree, admission procedures, and other important matters that you need to know.

http://graduate-school.phds.org/find/programs/business-administration
this is a great website because it has links to all of the schools that offer something to do with business administration and management including PhD degrees. you can pick a degree, a category and a subject and the website will match you up with universities. it also has the featured universities.

http://www.allbusinessschools.com/business-careers/article/dba-vs-phd-in-business-administration
this website compares de DBA and PhD and talks about the differences there are in between those two which arent many because they are very similar. They are both academically equivalent and have a lot of things in common.

http://www.myplan.com/majors/colleges-that-offer-this-degree.php?cb_set=1&cip=52.0201&sort=&sort_order=&first_letter=&doct=1&Submit=Go%21
this website also have a list of many universities which offer something that has to do with business administration. The good thing about this link is that it also takes you to the university page, but it takes you directly to the part were business administration say everything about it.

http://www.myplan.com/majors/colleges-that-offer-this-degree.php?cb_set=1&cip=52.0201&sort=&sort_order=&first_letter=&doct=1&Submit=Go%21
In this link wikipedia is telling me about all the universities that have business administration, but here it divides by states in the US. I think this is very important because when I go to college, I also want to know what place I'm going to and if how it is. Location is very important when it comes to picking universities according to this website, to other peoples experience, and to myself.

http://www.matchcollege.com/schools-degree/52.0201/Business-Administration
This is a very good website because there are a lot of things that you need to have in order to apply to business school and everything else and here they tell you everything. They tell you what business administration is and all of the educational requirements that it needs. The employment opportunities that it can give you and jobs and salaries.

Google Day #1

Goals for the day
1. What job can you get when you study business administration
2. What comes after you get your business degree in college
3. What is business administration really

Links and description that are useful
http://onlinedegrees.marylhurst.edu/what-kind-of-job-can-i-get-with-a-degree-in-business-administration/
this is a great link, because it tells me all the jobs that i can do if i study this career. this website belongs to Marylhust University, and has a very complete description of everything. It even tells me the average salary each job gets, which can vary depending on your career.

http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/businessstudies.htm
this is also a great link because it not only tells you what jobs you can have, but it gives a huge description about each job. it gives you reasons and data so that you know that this is really what you want to do. it also tells you the best places or good places were you can work in.

http://www.princetonreview.com/Majors.aspx?cip=520101&page=1
this is a princeton review in majors in business administration and management. first, the person who did this review made it very interesting and easy to read. it explains you things like what is management and how you can be either successful or not. it also tells us the related majors there are that go together with the business administration degree. there is a list of a few.

http://www.studentsreview.com/docs/major_bus.shtml
this is a review made by a student, about what business administration really is. people generalize it a lot and think of it as something different that what it really is. that's why so mane people study this career, but end up failing or not being really successful as they thought they would be.

what did i learn and what are my new skills
i learned many things researching about this topic. i learned all the majors that there were in business administration and management which are many majors. its has many different concentrations depending on what you do. some of them are accounting, actuarial science, agricultural economics, business communications, entrepreneurship  finance, and many more. i didnt know what any of those were until i looked them up in the webpages that i went to, and those webpages told me everything about them. i also learned about the career and how everyone is applying but not really knowing what it is and not knowing what the are really getting into when they study that. there are many man different jobs that i didn't even know existed!

one thing that i want to learn next Google day
what doctors degree are there if there are any for business administration.
not only research about business administration but i want to look at other careers too.

Linux

what i know about the topic
i don't know a thing about this topic and what the word linux means

questions about the topic
1. what does linux mean
2. what does it have to do with technology
3. for who is it efficient
4. why is it important

links about useful information
http://www.linux.org/
http://www.redhat.com/products/enterprise-linux/
http://www.linux.com/
http://www.howstuffworks.com/question246.htm

what i learned about the topic

  •  it is a computer operating system for free and open source software
  • it has been ported to more computer hardware platforms than any other operating system
  • leading operating system on mainframe computers and supercomputers
  • linux also works on mobile phones, tablets, network routers, televisions, and video game consoles
  • tux is the penguin mascot of linux
  • a linux based system is a modular unix like operating system
  • it is harder to manage than other operating sistems like Windows or Mac OS
  • linux kernel was created by Linus Torvalds
  • it runs on PC platforms
  • it has a very big audience among computer geniuses and hard core developers
  • it is a phenomenon and very popular
  • it is kind of an adapted clone of a UNIX operating system
  • current linux is very different from last years linux software
  • when you are new it is better to sign up for a linux discussion board
  • it provides data base and trading services for companies like Amazon US post office, and the German army, and many others
  • it is the only operating system in the world covering such a wide range of hardware
how does the topic relate to my life
this could apply to my life because it is an operating system like windows or mac os but, this one was made free for the entire world to use. it is harder to manage than windows or the other ones, but it is more flexible and has more configuration options than the other ones. if i ever want to experiment with operating system principles i can use it or if i want to have a great deal of control over my computer system i can install it and use it.

questions i still have
is linux bigger than mac os?
is it good for teenagers or kids to use or is it to hard?
what to businesses use it for?
